Shanna’s Portuguese Restaurant is one of Port Elizabeth’s best kept secrets, but this does not mean the restaurant is not usually bustling – booking is definitely recommended or you may be disappointed.
Shanna’s originally opened in the central area of Port Elizabeth but after 4 years they decided to move to their current location of Circular Drive, Lorraine. That was a fortunate decision for the residents of the area and many of their original customers still come regularly from as far as Summerstrand to enjoy what they know will be an excellent and enjoyable Portuguese meal.
If you are looking to enjoy the atmosphere and tastes of Portugal, Shanna’s won’t disappoint you – the murals on the walls add to its special charm. The tables are spaciously arranged which means guests can enjoy and hear the conversations of their friends. On a cold winter’s night the heaters ensure a warm welcoming ambiance.
The menu is varied and the wide selections of traditional Portuguese meals are freshly prepared each day. Shanna’s guests return time after time to enjoy their delicious specialities such as their tasty Prawns, the mouth-watering Espetada (350gms of sirloin steak on a skewer), the spicy Peri-Peri Chicken, Portuguese Steak and the signature dish of Carne de Porco Alentejana (pork fillet with clams, served with a delicious garlic, red pepper paste, coriander and wine sauce) to name just a few. All tastes are catered for.
The wine list is wide, varied and well priced. There is also a page of ‘Shanna’s wines on special’ with some very well priced and well known names listed.
